:: About Us ::

The Xtreme Wrestling Alliance has been operating in the New England
area since 2000. Our impending 5th anniversary has given us reason to
reflect back upon our eventful history.
Believe it or not, the company actually started out as...a game! The
Wanskuck Boys' and Girls' Club was the home of a unique activity called
WWFPool. In this game, players were issued a billiard ball and given a
persona: they were each assigned a WWF Superstar who they would
compete as. Complete with entrance music, factions, and storylines, the
kids would take part in 1-on-1, tag team, triple threat, even Battle Royale
matches! Cards were held; pay-per-view style events conducted; even
championship belts were issued. Hundreds of kids got involved. When
the existence of WWFPool was threatened by a mysterious outside
agent, something the XWA has had to deal with time and again, it was
this family of fanatics that gave birth to the XWA.
From the shadows of the past, we can recall our very first booking at
North Providence High School, as part of a co-promotional event. That
night, our two matches stole the card, and soon we were off to find our
own way...and our own venue.
The St. Elizabeth's Recreation Center in Bristol, RI became the first
home of the XWA. Our first champion was crowned on our first solo card.
Jimmy Parradise survived an 8-man tournament to become the very 1st
XWA champion. Soon after, he defended the title at the RI School for the
Deaf on a card that featured Mikey Whipwreck, The Amazing Red, Quiet
Storm, and the legendary Jerry "The King" Lawler! That was the night
that The Phoenix first won champion's gold when he defeated Parradise
in the 1st ever XWA Street Fight...with some timely aid from "The King."
St. Elizabeth's was the early home to our company, and as such saw many of its highlights...and not-so-highlights.
Our ring was forcibly invaded by a group calling itself "The Coalition" and suffered much havoc wreaked upon it.
The XWA Title fell under their control, which prompted a temporary compromise...in the 1st-ever Xtreme Rumble.
Though not without its own controversy (including a number of superstars who were not officially eliminated, like
the Phoenix and Ocyris), a number 1 contender was crowned. Jason Blade out-lasted 29 other men to earn his
shot at the title, which he eventually won from the Coalition's Max Brannigan.
After the XWA's "boarders" were secured from further usurpers, the company found itself in need of a new home
base. With the increase in out-of-state bookings that began at this point, a more centralized location was
necessary to make it easier to bring the best independent action to ALL of New England. Eventually, that harbor
was found at the West End Recreation Center, but not before the company's most ambitious venue choice to
date: The Ryan Center, on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. The 8300-seat arena saw what many
believe to be the lynch-pin show in XWA history, REDEMPTION 2003. Considered to be, match for match, the
best exhibition the company has yet produced. The night culminated with champion Jason Blade besting future
WWE developmental prospect Kenn Phoenix.
The move to the more centrally located West End facility has not been without its turmoil. Immediately upon the
move, a new provocateur made life miserable for the stars of the XWA. Known in the vernacular as "the stalker",
this unknown assailant began attacking members of the roster, seemingly at random, and putting them out of
commision...in some cases, permanently! At the same time, the ownership of the company changed hands...and
NO ONE seemed to know who the new owner or owners were. The two questions were answered nearly
simultaneously (if not satisfactorily) at the recent Desolation in December, when a certain Mr. Robert Ellis made
his presence known. Not only did he reveal himself as the new owner, he also informed the crowd that the stalker
was in his employ! "Psycho" Mike Osbourne was the man behind the stalker's mask, but he'll have to face Jose
Perez as his come-uppance sooner than I imagine he would like.
Local greats such as Jason Blade, Kid Makazi, Antonio Thomas, as well as many others, started in Rhode Island
with the XWA, and although we started out as a company solely for the entertainment of the local youth with no
advertisement to the public, we have recently "opened our doors" to the independant wrestling fanbase to share
the experience, and the excitement the XWA has to offer. This year, Jason Blade, Kid Makazi and Jose Perez all
celebrate their third year with the federation.
The 5th Anniversary of the XWA will showcase Redemption - 5 years in the making, and the XWA is dedicated to
making sure that this event surpasses all others - which is certainly good news for all independant wrestling fans
in New England! Hopefully this situation with the RI State Athletic Commission is soon resolved and the XWA can
resume doing what it does best - bringing you the very best in independant wrestling.
